Car Spotting

I love cars, almost as much as I love cameras. And I almost always carry a camera. Of course, that's a lot easier now that my phone has a camera built in! Driving around Calgary for photography assignments means that I often see interesting things. Unique cars are one of my favourite subjects and I've been collecting photos of these gems for a few years now. If I don't have my camera with me (or my phone) I'll make a mental note of where I saw a car and then I'll go back and get the shot.

Lately, I've been resorting to using my iPhone 5 for more an more of these pictures. As a professional photographer, it almost seems like a sin to use a phone for taking pictures, but pulling out a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV is just overkill.

Although the car photos above are mostly simple snaps, when you add them all together the whole becomes more than the sum of its parts. In fact, I recently publish a book called Wheels: Photographs of Cars through Blurb. It contains over 100 pages of car photos in sepia. Check it out and let me know  what you think.
